SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alto Pharmacy (“Alto”), a patient-centric telehealth pharmacy committed to health and wellbeing, today announced that it will launch its full-service telehealth pharmacy services in San Diego, CA and Austin, TX this fall. The addition of these two new markets brings Alto’s total coverage area to more than 41 million people across ten major metropolitan areas.
“Our team is working every day to raise the bar – delivering the care and convenience that everyone deserves from their pharmacy, with greater geographic scale than ever before. We expect strong traction given the positive reception and adoption we’ve already seen in our other California and Texas communities.”
Alto brings the best aspects of community pharmacy into the digital age, with personalized medication support from expert pharmacists, automatic savings and affordability tools, and free, same-day delivery. This expansion enables Alto to deliver on its promise of increasing access to medicine and improving quality of life for even more people.
"We’re thrilled to start serving the residents of Austin and San Diego. People deserve a better option, especially those with complex and chronic conditions where the barriers to high-quality, affordable pharmacy care are the greatest,” said Matt Gamache-Asselin, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Alto.
Alto will launch in San Diego, a market of 3.3 million people, on August 16, and in Austin, a market of 2.2 million, on November 15. Given the size of each market, Alto sees a combined $4 billion market opportunity. This geographic expansion builds on the strong first half of 2021 for the company, during which Alto entered New York, Dallas, and Houston, surpassed 20,000 weekly prescriptions delivered, and doubled revenue from the first half of 2020.
“The pharmacy industry hasn’t seen meaningful innovation in a generation,” said Kevin Burns, President of Alto. “Our team is working every day to raise the bar – delivering the care and convenience that everyone deserves from their pharmacy, with greater geographic scale than ever before. We expect strong traction given the positive reception and adoption we’ve already seen in our other California and Texas communities.”
Alto’s unique delivery-first, app-based pharmacy model has driven strong results to date, helping patients save more than $53 million on medications, driving 30% better medication adherence than the industry average on first fill, and delivering more than two million prescriptions. Alto’s medication management tools, same-day delivery, and deep clinical expertise are particularly valuable for individuals managing complex or chronic conditions - including fertility, diabetes, HIV, or heart or lung disease.
Alto will be hiring locally to support their service in both markets. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply at alto.com/careers.
